Wow Shahir-you really brought this one out especially well since I last saw a progress shot, and damn, if I'm not impressed
One thing that stands out vastly to me from the last time I saw it in progress is that background-done in soft brushstroke tones, the focus remains squarely on the figures in the foreground, but I could still stare at that background all day
The monster's been nicely brought out by colour as well, especially the markings-really highlights his expression, and I'm more amused by his little beard now
Shahir's pose and manic grin are excellent-he gives the image that sense of flow and interesting composition that really makes it stand out
I agree with =GunnerRomantics comment above about the action of the picture holding an element that rings slightly reminiscent to Prince of Persia
A well deserved favourite, excellent work Shahir-Belle must have loved this
Your in depth comment is appreciated, Luke And glad you like the new background as well, I've been wanting to pull off this technique for quite some time. One of Belle's commission art that utilized the same method was in my head the whole time.
The painterly background is greatly befitting of the actiony nature of the crystal-clear cell-shaded characters (neat? And dynamic? Daaaammmn.).
One little detail of this illustration that kept catching my eye was the doomed antagonist's spit, haha. It's perfectly transluscent and adds a rough, uncivilized element to his design (along with the broken horn and swineish nose) which makes it perfectly entertaining for us to anticipate his head being reduced to a bloody stump. Okay, anyhoo. X}
Lots of the same vibes that come from Prince of Persia videos are radiating from this picture--eh, not just because of the naming conventions and like, allusions to regional culture and etc. etc. etc. blah blah blah, but because of the wild, lightning-fast action. It's sweeeet.
